One billion dollars. A passport for rangatahi's future.

Manufacturing in the Hutt Valley is worth around $1b to New Zealand's GDP. This is a big deal and around 10% of the regions GDP.  The Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce expect this to keep growing over the next 10 years and beyond.

The Hutt Valley boast businesses like Metco Engineering Ltd, Times-7 Racetech Manufacturing Ltd, Real Steel Ltd, Resene, Airport Equipment, AROTEC Diagnostics Limited, Pertronic Industries Limited, Fraser Engineering Group, MJH Engineering Ltd , New Zealand Tube Mills, Dulux Grayley Plastics, Pact Group Holdings Ltd, Dough Bakery, Myriad Engineering Ltd and many many others.

These companies are busy but when asked for help they say 'Yes, how can we help'. And they will all have jobs in the future that could be filled by young talent from the region.

So, AMA are delighted to be working with the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce to support their rangatahi to see the world of manufacturing across the Hutt Valley.

Last week we kicked off with visits to Resene and to New Zealand Tube Mills. What a couple of amazing manufacturers to start with. They are iconic in the region and make world leading products. And they have a great affinity for their community and the next generations of their employees.

Each rangatahi will visit four or more manufacturing sites and see the wide range of jobs that exist in our community. They will get a stamped passport for their future,, and a digital badge they can use on their CV.

It's going to be brilliant.
